

It is soon revealed to the audience that the mastermind behind the extortions and murders is none other than Jayaseelan’s elder brother Selvaraj also known as Selvam (Samuthirakani), a local politician. When she finds out the truth, she reciprocates Jayaseelan’s love. However, Soumya, who is unaware about Jayaseelan’s mission, registers a case of murder against him with the police. This rowdy happened to be one of the extortionists Jayaseelan is after. He kills a rowdy, who has an eye on Soumya, in front of her. Jayaseelan falls in love with Sowmya (Kajal Aggarwal), a young woman who is afraid of everything, including crossing the road and taking U-turns. Jayaseelan (Vishal), a police officer, is posted the new ACP of Madurai and works undercover to rid the city of these extortionists. These extortionists even kill policemen who dare to take action against them, including Albert (Harish Uthaman). The city of Madurai is rife with the nefarious activities of a group of thugs, who kidnap local businessmen, extort money from them and kill them if they cannot pay the amount or complain to the police about them. The film, along with its Telugu dubbed version titled Jayasurya, was released on 4 September 2015 worldwide. Paayum Puli was shot predominantly in and around Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu in 75 working days. Principal photography commenced on 4 March 2015 and lasted for four months. The cinematography was led by Velraj and the editing by Anthony. Set in the backdrop of Madurai, Paayum Puli features Vishal as an undercover police officer named Jayaseelan.

The film was produced by Vendhar Movies and distributed by Escape Artists Motion Pictures. Paayum Puli (Eng: Pouncing Tiger) is a 2015 Indian Tamil action movie written and directed by Suseenthiran starring Vishal and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles and Samuthirakani, Soori and Aishwarya Dutta in supporting roles.
